How do i upgrade little big planet on my psp?

i just got a psp for my bday and i got little big planet for it and i really want to play online with other ppl but it is saying..... "You need to upgrade your version of little big planet please upgrade from your system patching facility." and i also dont know what my patching facility is and also dont know how to get to it :(
