Are low profile type videocards good for gaming?

I have been shopping online for computer parts until I have encountered a videocard which says "low profile". I have been wondering whether it's for gaming or not. for example, an ATI HD 6450 is a high-end card and it says low profile. Is it a gaming type videocard or a videocard for some specific software like AutoCAD?
