Can my parents read my texts?

Well all the time my mom says she is going to go online and read my messages. Can she really? We have the Verizon Wireless family plan. Can she read the exact messages on the bill or anything if im listed as a child on the plan? Or can she only see the number i texted an the time i sent it?
